Bayern Munich have turned their focus towards Premier League side Brighton’s manager Roberto de Zerbi after Thomas Tuchel confirmed that he will not be continuing his journey with the Bavarians, reported HITC on Friday.

Tuchel announced in February that he will leave the club at the end of the season. However, despite going trophyless this season, the club management and the players wanted the German to continue at the club as he was loved and respected by the players in the dressing room.

There were reports that he may decide to stay at Bayern but Tuchel denied all the rumours as he went on to confirm his departure from the Bavarians and said: “This is my last press conference as FC Bayern manager, there were talks, but we didn’t reach an agreement so the decision from February still stands.”

Bayern wanted to appoint Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso and were the front-runners alongside Liverpool to get his services but the Spaniard confirmed that he will be continuing with the Bundesliga champions for the next season.

After missing out on Alonso, Bayern turned their focus on De Zerbi, who is one of the best managers in the world and has done exceptional work with Brighton over the years.

The Italian opened up on his future recently where he said that he is committed to Brighton and has no intentions of leaving England.

“I feel good in England, in the Premier League and I have no intention of leaving,” he said.

"There is no team that can change my mind, I have made a commitment. I like being outside and experiencing the atmosphere of the stadium. Furthermore, in England, I have the opportunity to improve my knowledge of the language and football.”

With a strong interest from Bayern, De Zerbi may end up leaving Brighton as it would be the first time in his career that he would be managing a club as big as Bayern Munich.
